Healthium Medtech and C-CAMP Launch Innovations Program for Surgical and Medical Technologies
Mumbai: Healthium Medtech and the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) have launched the first cohort of the C-CAMP Healthium Innovations Program for Surgical Interventions and Medical Technologies in Bengaluru. This program aims to foster deep-science innovations in digitally enabled medical technologies that are affordable, scalable, and clinically impactful.
Addressing Challenges in Surgical Care
The initiative focuses on surgical interventions, an area that remains underserved in smaller healthcare systems in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The high cost of imported solutions and infrastructure and training gaps have made it difficult to scale access to modern surgical care. The program was created to address these challenges by nurturing India-led, frugal, and scalable innovations tailored for local needs.
Partnership and Expertise
The partnership combines the expertise of Healthium Medtech, a leading player in surgical and post-surgical technologies, and C-CAMP, a renowned life sciences innovation ecosystem. Together, they will provide structured mentorship and incubation support to early-stage ventures, helping them overcome critical barriers from research to commercialization.
Inaugural Cohort
The inaugural cohort includes eight start-ups working across domains such as neurology, urology, AI-enabled surgical planning, and diagnostic imaging. These start-ups will receive mentorship and incubation support over the next nine months to advance their technologies toward market readiness and adoption.
Anish Bafna, CEO and Managing Director, Healthium Medtech, said, “At Healthium, our vision has always been to make quality healthcare more accessible.”
Taslimarif Saiyed, CEO and Director, C-CAMP, added, “India’s medtech ecosystem is at a critical juncture where innovation must be paired with affordability and scalability”.
