Honeywell and AM Green Sign MoU to Advance Carbon Capture and Sustainable Aviation Fuel in India
Mumbai: In a significant move to decarbonize the aviation and shipping sectors, Honeywell and AM Green have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from ethanol, green methanol, and green hydrogen.
The collaboration aims to enhance India’s energy security by:
- Reducing Crude Oil Import Dependence: Producing SAF and green methanol domestically to decrease reliance on imported crude oil.
- Positioning India as a Global Leader: Exporting green methanol to aid shipping companies in adopting low-emission alternative fuels.
- Meeting Aviation Emission Targets: Assisting airlines in complying with CORSIA mandates for low-carbon, drop-in fuel replacements.
This partnership will create a sustainable ecosystem, supporting the government’s SAF blending mandates and positioning India as a global leader in alternative fuel innovation. The collaboration will also benefit Indian farmers by creating demand for ethanol feedstocks and align with the government’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.
The feasibility study is expected to conclude by mid-2025, marking a critical step toward achieving large-scale decarbonization.
