IIM Mumbai Launches Executive MBA in Wealth Management in Collaboration with Neo Wealth
Chennai: The Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) has launched a one-year Executive MBA in Wealth Management for working professionals in the financial services sector.
The programme, developed in collaboration with Neo Wealth and Asset Management, was formally inaugurated on July 15, 2026, at IIM Mumbai’s Powai campus. Classes began on July 18, 2026.
Weekend Programme for Working Professionals
According to IIM Mumbai, the Executive MBA in Wealth Management is among India’s first academic programmes dedicated exclusively to wealth management.
The programme will be delivered in a non-residential weekend format over 52 weekends, enabling working professionals to pursue higher education while continuing their careers.
Curriculum Focus
The curriculum covers key areas including:
- Portfolio management
- Risk assessment
- Taxation
- Estate planning
- Behavioural finance
The courses will be taught by IIM Mumbai faculty, along with practitioner-led sessions involving industry experts from Neo Wealth and Asset Management and other organisations.
Industry-Academia Collaboration
The programme has been introduced as part of a broader collaboration between IIM Mumbai and Neo Wealth and Asset Management to strengthen industry-academia engagement in wealth management education.
The two organisations have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote digital dissemination of wealth management knowledge through masterclasses, case studies, research publications and industry insights.
Growing Demand for Wealth Management Professionals
The institute noted that India’s wealth management industry has expanded significantly in recent years, driven by rising entrepreneurship, business liquidity events, first-generation wealth creation and inter-generational wealth transfer.
This growth has increased demand for professionals with expertise in investments, risk management, taxation, succession planning and wealth advisory services.
Officials’ Remarks
Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwary, Director of IIM Mumbai, said the programme has been designed to address the growing need for professionals with both academic knowledge and practical understanding of the wealth management sector. He added that collaboration with Neo Wealth and Asset Management will bring industry perspectives into the learning experience.
Shajikumar Devakar, Co-Founder and CEO of Neo Wealth, said the wealth management industry requires professionals who can combine technical expertise with a client-focused approach. He noted that the collaboration aims to support talent development for a sector that continues to grow in scale and complexity.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by IIM Mumbai’s leadership, faculty members, industry representatives and participants from the inaugural batch. During the event, Shajikumar Devakar addressed attendees on emerging trends in wealth management and the importance of continuous professional development in the financial services industry.
