IIM Sambalpur Climbs 16 Spots in NIRF 2025, Enters Top 35 Management Institutes in India

Mumbai: In a remarkable achievement, IIM Sambalpur has surged ahead in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, securing the 34th position in the management category. This leap of sixteen ranks marks one of the most significant jumps in the institute’s history and reflects its growing stature in India’s higher education landscape.

The NIRF rankings, known for their standardized and transparent evaluation process, assess institutions across parameters such as Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RPC), Graduation Outcomes (GO), and Perception (PR). IIM Sambalpur’s improved performance across these metrics highlights its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and societal impact.

The institute has made notable strides in TLR, with enhanced faculty strength, modern pedagogy, and upgraded infrastructure. Its RPC score reflects a growing emphasis on impactful research and publications. Improvements in GO and PR further indicate rising employability, academic reputation, and community engagement.

Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, expressed pride in the institution’s progress. “I extend my heartiest congratulations to the entire IIM Sambalpur team for their exemplary efforts. Climbing sixteen spots in NIRF 2025 is a testament to our dedication to innovation, integrity, and inclusiveness. We have officially launched our global accreditation journey, beginning with AI integration in learning and the AACSB accreditation process—an international benchmark in business education.”

He added that the institute is aiming for the prestigious ‘Triple Crown’ status, a rare distinction held by less than 1% of business schools worldwide. IIM Sambalpur is also playing a pivotal role in Odisha’s economic transformation through its collaboration with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and the University of Maryland.

Reaffirming its commitment to inclusivity, the institute has seen strong female student registration in its MBA programme, further strengthening its position as a progressive and socially responsible academic institution.
