Indian Organizations Accelerate GenAI Adoption

Mumbai: A new research paper by IDC highlights the rapid acceleration of Generative AI (GenAI) adoption in India, with AI spending expected to reach $9.2 billion by 2028, growing at 35% annually.

  • 36% of Indian enterprises are using GenAI, with 46% planning investments within 12-24 months.
  • Data quality is a major challenge, with 54% of Indian organizations citing it as a barrier.
  • 51% of Indian enterprises host AI solutions in the cloud, with 80% seeing cloud migration as essential.

“GenAI is transforming industries in India, but to unlock its full potential, organizations must prioritize trusted data, robust governance, and infrastructure readiness,” said Deepika Giri, Associate Vice President, IDC Asia/Pacific.

“Indian organizations see cloud adoption as a critical step toward AI success,” said Varun Babbar, Vice President, India, Qlik. “Businesses need a strong, scalable data infrastructure that supports high-performance AI applications.”
