Intuitive Appoints Rohitt Mahajan as VP and GM in India
Mumbai: Intuitive, a leader in minimally invasive care and robotic-assisted surgery, has appointed Rohitt Mahajan as vice president and general manager for India. Mahajan will oversee the company’s business strategy and operations in the region.
“India is set to become a global leader in minimally invasive care. The innovative surgeons, patient-focused hospitals, and forward-thinking policymakers create a dynamic environment for Intuitive,” said Glenn Vavoso, Senior Vice President and President, Asia Pacific. “Rohitt Mahajan’s extensive healthcare experience in India and Asia will strengthen our partnerships with healthcare providers and enhance patient care in India.”
Mahajan brings over 17 years of experience in sales, marketing, strategy, and operations in healthcare, consumer durables, and IT. Since joining Intuitive in 2018, he has held key leadership roles, including area sales director for India and director of commercial operations for Asia. He has contributed significantly to the expansion of Intuitive’s commercial operations in India and across Asia, including China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
“Intuitive India is uniquely positioned to shape the healthcare landscape in India,” said Mahajan. “I look forward to working with surgeons and executives to expand patient access to robotic-assisted surgery and its benefits.”
Intuitive began direct operations in India in 2018, focusing on advancing minimally invasive care through its robotic-assisted surgical systems. The company’s technology is present in leading private and government hospitals, medical institutes, and state government medical colleges across the country. Intuitive has invested USD 6 million to establish four training centers, including one at AIIMS New Delhi. Currently, over 180 da Vinci surgical programs operate in India, with more than 100,000 procedures performed by over 850 da Vinci-trained surgeons.
To support its growth, Intuitive recently opened a global capability center (GCC) in Bengaluru, which serves as a core global hub for functions such as IT support, enterprise analytics, software quality, human resource management, and post-market surveillance.
