IOB Celebrates 90th Foundation Day with CSR Initiatives Across Chennai

Chennai: Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) marked its 90th Foundation Day with a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Chennai, reaffirming its commitment to community welfare and social development. The celebrations honoured the legacy of the Bank’s founder, Shri M. Ct. M. Chidambaram Chettyar, who established the institution in 1937.

The event began with the ceremonial garlanding of the founder’s statue by Managing Director & CEO Shri Ajay Kumar Srivastava, along with Executive Directors Shri Joydeep Dutta Roy and Shri Dhanaraj T, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Rajeev Kumar, members of the founder’s family, senior officials, and staff at the Central Office.

As part of its CSR efforts, IOB partnered with the Akshaya Patra Foundation to provide breakfast support to 7,584 students across 43 schools in Chennai, promoting better nutrition and improved learning outcomes. The Bank also distributed sanitation and hygiene kits in five localities, benefiting 4,000 girl children and 10,000 households in collaboration with the Initiative for Social Development and Education Welfare Society Samiti.

In addition, IOB supported differently abled individuals by distributing wheelchairs and tricycles to 23 beneficiaries through Swami Vivekanandar Sevalaya & Social Development Trust, enhancing mobility and independence.

The initiatives reflect IOB’s continued focus on inclusive growth, education, health, and community welfare.
