IREDA Commissions Sewage Treatment Plant at India International Centre

Mumbai: Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) has commissioned a 25,000 liters per day Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at the India International Centre (IIC) Annexe, New Delhi. The project was funded under IREDA’s CSR initiative and aims to promote sustainable urban infrastructure.

Key Features

  • The STP will generate electricity from sludge produced by biodegradable waste and recycle wastewater for horticulture and industrial use.
  • The plant will reduce foul discharge and modernize IIC’s facilities, ensuring greener operations.

Inauguration and Significance

  • The STP was inaugurated by Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance), IREDA, and Shri Shyam Saran, President of IIC and Former Foreign Secretary of India.
  • The initiative is seen as a vital step towards achieving India’s climate goals and promoting sustainable practices [1].
