Rashtriya Lok Dal launched its Tamil Nadu unit

Chennai: The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has launched its Tamil Nadu unit, marking a significant step in its expansion across the state. The newly formed unit will focus on the welfare of farmers and youth in Tamil Nadu, aligning with the party’s core ideology. As part of its strategic move, RLD will contest the 2026 Assembly elections as a constituent of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Key Office-Bearers:

  • G. Rajaraman: State President
  • N. Ravi Pillai: General Secretary
  • A. Thirunavukarasu: Treasurer

RLD’s national general secretary (organisation), Trilok Tyagi, announced that party president and Union Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, will engage in discussions with NDA leaders ahead of the elections. This development comes on the heels of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statement that the NDA will form the government in Tamil Nadu after the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections.

The RLD’s expansion into Tamil Nadu is notable, given the state’s complex political landscape ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls. Other political parties, including the DMK and AIADMK, are also gearing up for the elections, with alliances and strategies being carefully planned.
