T.K. Kishor Kumar of ULCCS Elected Vice-Chairman of ICAE
Kerala: T.K. Kishor Kumar, representing the Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society (ULCCS), has been elected Vice-Chairperson of the International Cooperative Alliance Asia-Pacific Committee on Agriculture and Environment (ICAE). The announcement was made at the ICAE Annual Meeting held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Prof. Madya Dato’ Abdul Rahman Abdul Razak Shaik has been chosen as the new Chairperson of the committee.
Kishor Kumar, who serves as Chief Project Coordinator of ULCCS and Chief Operating Officer of UL Cyberpark, becomes the first Malayali to hold this prestigious position.
The ICAE, a regional committee under the International Cooperative Alliance Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP), works to advance cooperative movements across the Asia-Pacific region. Its initiatives focus on sustainable agriculture, improving farmers’ incomes, strengthening agricultural cooperatives, and addressing climate change challenges.
In addition to his new role, Kishor Kumar is a director of the National Labour Cooperative Federation of India (NLCF), the apex body representing nearly 47,000 cooperatives nationwide. He also serves on several national-level committees, including advisory panels formed by the Ministry of Cooperatives, and is actively engaged in efforts to attract youth to the cooperative sector.
Kishor Kumar has represented India at numerous international forums. His participation includes UNDP study trips to Spain, Italy, and Brazil, as well as conferences in Australia, Sri Lanka, Iran, Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia. He has also visited England at the invitation of the British High Commissioner and took part in a Vietnam workshop organized by the Asian Productivity Organization to promote digital transformation. Additionally, he was part of the delegation to Iran alongside former Kerala Labour Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan.
With this appointment, Kishor Kumar brings both regional representation and global experience to ICAE, reinforcing India’s role in shaping cooperative strategies for agriculture and environment across Asia-Pacific
