University of Madras, Guindy Campus Inspires Transformational Journey

Chennai: The University of Madras, Guindy Campus, recently hosted the prestigious award ceremony organized by The Academy of Sciences, Chennai, on March 18, 2025. This annual event recognizes young and senior scientists who have made significant contributions to science, research, and development.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Sundramoorthy, Professor at Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Chennai, was honored as a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences, Chennai (2025). Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Sundramoorthy shared how the University of Madras shaped his academic and professional life.

The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Dr. S. Sriman Narayanan, Vice Chancellor of VELS University, Chennai, and Dr. T. Ramasami, former Secretary of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr. Sundramoorthy’s story is a testament to the transformative impact of the University of Madras. From humble beginnings, he rose to become a renowned professor, guiding numerous Ph.D. students and securing government projects.
