VS Hospitals Launches Advanced Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement System in Chennai

Chennai: VS Hospitals has unveiled the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution at its Kilpauk facility, marking a significant leap in precision-driven orthopaedic care. The cutting-edge system is designed to enhance the accuracy and personalization of knee replacement surgeries, offering patients improved mobility, reduced post-operative pain, and faster recovery.

The launch event was graced by former Indian cricketer Krishnakumar Dinesh Karthik, alongside senior leadership including Prof. Dr. S. Sundar, Medical Director and Robotic Arthroplasty Surgeon, Prof. Dr. S. Subramanian, Chairman & Managing Director, Muthu Subramanian, Executive Director, Prassanna Srinivasan, Group COO, and S Ramu Mahalingam, Director – Finance.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Sundar described the VELYS system as a “transformative advancement in knee replacement care,” highlighting its ability to provide real-time surgical insights without the need for pre-operative CT scans. “This CT-free workflow reduces cost, preparation time, and radiation exposure, while supporting optimal implant placement through advanced optical tracking and precision-guided tools,” he said.

The Institute of Orthopaedics and Robotic Arthroplasty at VS Hospitals offers a comprehensive range of joint care services, including Total Knee and Hip Replacements, Revision Hip Surgeries, Shoulder and Elbow procedures, Pelvic Osteotomy, and tumour limb-saving interventions. The centre is also known for specialised techniques such as smart technique knee replacement, unicompartmentalized knee replacement, and reverse shoulder arthroplasty.

Equipped with modern infrastructure, the department features intra-operative image guidance, 24-hour CT scan services, physiotherapy and laser therapy, and computer-assisted rehabilitation.
