DP World Mundra Enhances Capacity and Sustainability with New Equipment

Chennai: DP World Mundra has expanded its capabilities with the arrival of a new state-of-the-art Quay Crane and three electric Rubber-Tyre Gantry Cranes (e-RTGCs). These investments will enhance the terminal’s handling capacity and sustainability, supporting India’s Harit Sagar (Green Port) guidelines.

Key Features and Benefits

  • The new Quay Crane can handle vessels 22 rows across, enabling Mundra to serve large container ships with greater efficiency and reliability.
  • The crane features advanced technologies, including predictive maintenance planning and energy-efficient drive systems, improving safety, precision, and productivity.
  • The terminal’s handling capacity will rise to 1.56 million TEUs by 2027 with the addition of the new Quay Crane.

Sustainability Initiatives

  • The three new e-RTGCs will cut emissions by 18.9% (Scope 1 & 2) and reduce noise levels, contributing to DP World’s global commitment to reducing emissions.
  • DP World Mundra is sourcing renewable power through International Renewable Energy Certificates (IRECs) and has achieved “Zero Waste to Landfill” certification.
  • The terminal is accelerating electrification across its operations, including electric light motor vehicles, forklifts, and upcoming electric internal transfer vehicles.

Commitment to Sustainability and Growth

  • DP World aims to reduce Scope 1 emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 28% by 2030, with a goal of net-zero carbon emissions across its value chain by 2050.
  • The investments at DP World Mundra support India’s ambition to become a global leader in sustainable trade and reinforce Gujarat’s role as a vital trade gateway.
