VBJ Opens New Flagship Showroom on Anna Salai, Chennai
Chennai: Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers (VBJ), one of India’s most established heritage jewellery brands, has launched an all-new flagship showroom on Anna Salai, Chennai, adjacent to its existing store. The new addition marks a key milestone in the brand’s 125-year legacy and reinforces its long-standing presence in the city.
Located along one of Chennai’s busiest commercial corridors, the showroom is notably the only large-format jewellery retail space across this stretch of Anna Salai.
Spread across 14,000 sq. ft., the multi-level showroom has been designed with a clear zoning approach. The ground floor features gold, precious and jadau jewellery, offering easy accessibility and smooth customer flow. The first floor houses diamond, solitaire and platinum collections, providing a more focused environment for considered purchases.
The second floor introduces Atelier VBJ, a new retail format for the brand. Designed as a private and immersive space, it includes dedicated lounges, private viewing rooms and personalised service. Unlike conventional retail displays, this level follows a curated approach, showcasing a limited selection, with the larger collection presented on request.
Speaking on the launch, Amarendran Vummidi, Managing Partner, VBJ, said the store reflects an effort to reinterpret the brand’s legacy in a contemporary format. He noted that each floor has been designed to create a distinct experience while maintaining continuity in design and customer journey.
VBJ is also entering a new phase of expansion across Tamil Nadu and Telangana, with upcoming stores planned in Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli and Hyderabad. Within Chennai, the brand aims to strengthen its presence in key retail hubs such as T. Nagar and Chromepet. Internationally, VBJ is expanding its footprint in the United States, building on its operations in Texas with planned entry into Milpitas, California.
Jithendra Vummidi, Managing Partner, VBJ, said the new showroom brings together multiple retail formats under one roof, allowing customers to engage with different jewellery categories in a more structured manner, from everyday purchases to specialised acquisitions.
A fifth-generation family-run business, VBJ is also known for crafting the historic Sengol, which was reinstated in the new Parliament building, Sansad Bhavan. The brand continues to focus on heirloom bridal jewellery alongside contemporary collections such as Florals and Avatara, inspired by nature and traditional motifs.
With the launch of this flagship showroom, VBJ aims to offer a more structured and contemporary jewellery retail experience while staying rooted in its legacy of craftsmanship.
