India Energy Week 2027 Curtain Raiser Held Across Chennai, Bhopal and Kochi
Chennai: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) held connected Curtain Raiser programmes for India Energy Week (IEW) 2027 in Chennai, Bhopal and Kochi on Tuesday, linked live to the main programme in Kolkata.
The programmes brought together representatives from the energy sector, academia, media and student communities to discuss India’s evolving energy landscape and the significance of IEW 2027.
The fifth edition of India Energy Week will be held in Kolkata from January 28 to 31, 2027, under the theme “Unlocking Innovation. Securing Energy. Shaping Tomorrow.” It will bring together policymakers, energy companies, technology innovators, investors and other industry stakeholders to discuss energy security, sustainability and emerging technologies.
Since its launch in Bengaluru in 2023, IEW has expanded in scale and international participation. The 2026 edition in Goa recorded more than 75,000 energy professionals, 700 exhibiting companies, participants from over 120 countries and more than 6,500 conference delegates, according to BPCL.
The 2027 edition will cover areas including oil and gas, LNG, refining and petrochemicals, hydrogen, biofuels, artificial intelligence and digitalisation, renewable energy, sustainable aviation fuel and other emerging technologies.
Chennai Programme
The Chennai Curtain Raiser was held at the Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC), Anna University, on Sardar Patel Road. Students, faculty members, industry representatives and media personnel participated in the programme.
V.R.K. Gupta, Director (Finance), BPCL, said India’s energy transition requires balancing rising demand with affordability, security and cleaner energy systems. He also highlighted BPCL’s investments in areas including biofuels, green hydrogen, EV charging and renewable energy.
The connected programmes in Chennai, Bhopal and Kochi were aimed at expanding discussions around energy innovation and encouraging participation from students, researchers, industry professionals and innovators.
IEW 2027 is expected to provide a platform for discussions and partnerships across the global energy sector, with a focus on energy security, sustainability and technological innovation.
