335 Divyangjans Receive Artificial Limbs and Calipers at Narayan Seva Camp in Ahmedabad
Mumbai: A total of 335 Divyangjans benefited from an artificial limb fitment camp organised by Narayan Seva Sansthan at Atal Kalam Campus Lane, Gujarat University, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, on Sunday.
The camp was jointly organised by Narayan Seva Sansthan, Udaipur, and its CSR partner Ingersoll Rand India Limited. As part of the initiative, 291 Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs were provided free of cost to 271 beneficiaries, while 87 calipers and other assistive devices were provided to 64 Divyangjans.
Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, who attended the programme as the chief guest, described the service initiatives of Narayan Seva Sansthan as an example of technology being combined with compassion. He said the assistance provided to 335 beneficiaries represented an opportunity for greater mobility, dignity and self-reliance.
The Governor interacted with beneficiaries and spoke with doctors about the fitting and use of the artificial limbs. He also extended his wishes to the beneficiaries and assured them of possible support from the Raj Bhavan.
The programme was presided over by Sunil Khanduja, Chairman and Managing Director, Ingersoll Rand India Limited. Former Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendra Singh Chudasama attended as a distinguished guest and spoke about the organisation’s humanitarian initiatives.
40-member specialist team conducted fitment
According to Vandana Agarwal, Director, Narayan Seva Sansthan, the organisation’s objective extends beyond providing artificial limbs to helping beneficiaries regain confidence and become self-reliant.
The camp began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a welcome of guests in the Mewari tradition. A 40-member team of specialists from Narayan Seva Sansthan conducted the artificial limb fitment and trained beneficiaries in maintaining balance, walking techniques, using artificial limbs and their care.
More than 450 Divyangjans registered at the selection and measurement camp held in Ahmedabad on July 26. Of these, 335 selected beneficiaries received artificial limbs, calipers and other assistive devices at Sunday’s camp.
Following the fitment process, beneficiaries participated in a parade, with family members watching them walk independently.
Officials and volunteers attend programme
Satyabhushan Jain, Patron of Narayan Seva Sansthan, social worker Madan Lal Gupta, Shailesh Chandra Parmar, Natwar Bhai Gajjar, Satish Bhai Bhaviskar, Vallabh Bhai Dhanani and Pradeep Bhai J. Bachani were among those present. Several citizens, social workers and volunteers also attended the programme.
The event was conducted by Mahim Jain, while Devendra Chaubisa delivered the vote of thanks.
Narayan Seva Sansthan’s work since 1985
Narayan Seva Sansthan has been involved in social service since 1985. Its founder, Padma Shri Kailash ‘Manav’, has received the Padma Shri for his contribution to the field of service. President Prashant Agarwal received the President’s Award in 2023 for his contribution to the empowerment of Divyangjans.
According to the organisation, more than 40,200 Divyangjans have received free artificial limbs, while over 4.54 lakh Divyangjans have received free medical services in India and abroad.
