Kerala Tourism Photo Exhibition ‘Lenscape Kerala’ Opens in Chennai
Chennai: Kerala Tourism’s all-India travelling photo exhibition ‘Lenscape Kerala’ was inaugurated at the Lalit Kala Akademi in Chennai on Wednesday, presenting the scenic beauty, culture and vibrant life of Kerala through 100 curated photographs.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Malayalam actor Seema and noted writer and art critic Sadanand Menon, former Editorial Advisor of Better Photography. The exhibition features works by 10 leading travel and media photographers from across India, capturing the essence of Kerala as an all-season tourist destination.
The exhibition will remain open to visitors until March 7, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. A photography masterclass for aspiring photographers will also be conducted at the venue on March 5.
Curated by eminent art curator and critic Uma Nair, Lenscape Kerala is described as a unique visual narrative that connects Kerala’s past and present through compelling imagery. Renowned wildlife and conservation photographer Balan Madhavan serves as the Director of Photography for the project.
In a message marking the exhibition’s opening, Kerala Tourism Minister P. A. Mohamed Riyas said the initiative was designed as a creative outreach to showcase the immersive experiences Kerala offers visitors throughout the year.
He noted that the exhibition highlights not only Kerala’s famed landscapes — including its rivers, backwaters and hill stations — but also its architectural heritage, cultural traditions and the spirit of harmony that defines the state.
The exhibition features photographs taken during a five-day journey across Kerala in December, where participating photographers explored themes such as nature, wildlife, heritage, rural and coastal life, architecture, festivals and spirituality.
The photographers featured in the exhibition include H. Satish, Kounteya Sinha, Shivang Mehta, Saibal Das, Umesh Gogna, Saurabh Chatterjee, Natasha Kartar Hemrajani, Aishwarya Sridhar, Amit Pasricha and Manoj Arora.
According to curator Uma Nair, the exhibition has been crafted as a visual storytelling experience that seamlessly links Kerala’s heritage with contemporary life. Director of Photography Balan Madhavan said the show stands out for its dynamic and exclusive images capturing the many facets of the state.
The travelling exhibition began in New Delhi and has already toured Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru before arriving in Chennai. After its Chennai showcase, the exhibition will travel to Hyderabad (March 12–14), Surat (March 19–21) and conclude in Kolkata (March 27–29).
