CII Foodpro 2026 Opens in Chennai, Bringing Together Food Processing Industry Stakeholders
Chennai: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Southern Region inaugurated the 16th edition of Foodpro 2026 at the Chennai Trade Centre, bringing together companies, technology providers, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and industry stakeholders from across the food processing sector.
The three-day exhibition and conference, being held from August 7 to 9, focuses on food processing, packaging, and food technologies, providing a platform to showcase innovations and discuss developments across the food processing value chain.
Over 250 Exhibitors Participate
According to the organisers, Foodpro 2026 features more than 250 exhibitors spread across over 8,000 square metres of exhibition space and is expected to attract more than 25,000 business and trade visitors.
The event includes participation from domestic and international companies and features sector-specific conferences, B2B, B2G and B2C meetings, live demonstrations, and product launches.
The exhibition aims to facilitate technology adoption, business networking, investment opportunities, and discussions on improving productivity, quality, food safety, and sustainability in the food processing industry.
Industry Leaders Highlight Sector Growth
Speaking at the inaugural session, B. Thiagarajan, Chairman of CII Foodpro 2026 and Managing Director of Blue Star India, said India’s food processing industry is witnessing significant changes driven by technological advancements, evolving consumer preferences, increased value addition, and a growing emphasis on food safety and sustainability.
He noted that the exhibition provides a platform for collaboration among industry, government, and technology providers to support the development of the food processing ecosystem.
Integrated Food Ecosystem Emphasised
P. Ravichandran, Chairman of CII Southern Region and President of Danfoss India, said India’s food sector should be viewed as an integrated ecosystem extending from agriculture to the consumer.
He highlighted the importance of collaboration between governments, industry, research institutions, startups, and farmers, supported by technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation, digital traceability, advanced refrigeration, predictive analytics, and intelligent supply chains.
Foodpro 2026 will continue until August 9, featuring exhibitions, conferences, technology showcases, and business networking sessions.
