India-UAE Trade Gets a Boost: DP World and RITES Limited Collaborate
Chennai: DP World and RITES Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost India-UAE trade and logistics infrastructure. The agreement, signed on April 10, 2025, in Mumbai, aims to foster collaboration in developing trade, logistics, and infrastructure projects.
- Infrastructure Development: Collaborative development of ports, multimodal logistics parks, free trade zones, rail connectivity projects, and logistics infrastructure services.
- Trade Corridor Enhancement: Strengthening trade ties between India and the UAE through the Virtual Trade Corridor (VTC), a digital platform launched in September 2024.
- Expertise Sharing: Leveraging RITES’ expertise in transport infrastructure development and DP World’s extensive portfolio of world-class ports, free zones, and smart end-to-end logistics solutions.
Rahul Mithal, Chairman and Managing Director of RITES Limited, said the partnership will create transformative synergies across key infrastructure projects. H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DP World, stated that the partnership marks a significant milestone in enhancing trade and infrastructure development between India and the UAE.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shri Piyush Goyal, Honourable Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. This partnership aims to strengthen economic ties between India and the UAE, building on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT).
