Uber Rolls Out Metro Ticketing on its App Powered by ONDC

Mumbai: Uber has announced the launch of metro ticketing on its app, powered by the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), with Delhi Metro going live as the first city. This integration marks a significant step towards making public transport more connected and seamless.

With this new feature, users in Delhi can now plan their metro journeys, purchase QR-based tickets, and access real-time transit information within the Uber app. Payments for metro ticketing will be supported exclusively through UPI, reinforcing Uber’s commitment to accelerating digital payments adoption and financial inclusion.

Uber plans to launch metro ticketing in three more cities across India in 2025. Additionally, the company will soon introduce B2B Logistics via the ONDC network, enabling businesses to request on-demand logistics from Uber’s delivery network. This will serve as an incremental earning opportunity for Uber’s 1.4-million-strong driver network.

Praveen Neppalli Naga, Chief Technology Officer, Uber, said, “India’s Digital Public Infrastructure like ONDC has enabled us to reimagine how private innovation can plug into public platforms to deliver seamless, smart solutions.” Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO at ONDC, added, “Uber’s joining of the ONDC Network marks a significant step in expanding access to trusted, interoperable digital infrastructure in India.”
