MRF Receives FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation for Sustainable Motorsport Operations
Chennai: MRF Limited has been awarded the Three-Star level under the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme, the highest recognition offered by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) for environmental management in motorsport.
The accreditation was granted following an audit conducted under the FIA Environmental Accreditation framework. According to the audit findings, MRF demonstrated a structured approach to environmental management, continuous improvement and responsible manufacturing practices across its motorsport tyre operations.
With this recognition, MRF becomes the only Indian tyre manufacturer to achieve the FIA’s highest environmental accreditation and joins a select group of global motorsport tyre manufacturers that have received the Three-Star rating.
MRF manufactures motorsport tyres at facilities certified under the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System standard. The audit also noted that these manufacturing facilities maintain ISO 50001 Energy Management System certification.
The assessment highlighted MRF’s environmental objectives aimed at reducing specific power consumption, fuel consumption, water usage and waste generation. Monitoring and measurement systems have been implemented across several environmental impact areas, including energy use, waste management, water consumption, biodiversity, air quality, noise levels, materials and procurement, transport, and Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions.
Commenting on the achievement, Arun Mammen, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of MRF Limited, said the accreditation reflects the company’s commitment to sustainable innovation, environmental responsibility and continuous improvement across its global operations.
The FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation represents the highest level within the programme and recognises organisations that integrate sustainability initiatives into their operations while maintaining industry performance standards.
