Schneider Electric Launches Yuva Yodha National Hackathon for Student Energy Innovations
Mumbai: Schneider Electric has launched Yuva Yodha, a national technology hackathon aimed at encouraging students to develop solutions for energy, sustainability and technology challenges related to India’s energy transition.
The initiative is open to Indian citizens or residents aged 18 and above who are enrolled as full-time students in India, including undergraduate, postgraduate and STEM programmes. Participants can compete individually or in teams of up to four members.
The hackathon will focus on four areas: Sustainable Agriculture, Smart Buildings, Grid Reliability & Renewable Intermittency, and Smart Manufacturing.
Participants will be asked to develop practical and scalable solutions addressing areas such as energy and water efficiency, occupant experience, grid resilience, industrial productivity and sustainability. The challenges will also cover energy technologies, digitalisation and automation.
Cash prizes and funding opportunity
The winning team will receive a ₹20 lakh grand prize, while the runner-up will receive ₹15 lakh. The second runner-up will receive ₹10 lakh.
The top 10 teams will also have an opportunity to present their ideas to Schneider Electric’s leadership and stand a chance to receive funding support from Schneider Electric Ventures.
Participants will receive access to industry insights, mentorship and opportunities to present their solutions to experts from Schneider Electric and the wider innovation ecosystem.
Commenting on the launch, Deepak Sharma, Zone President, Greater India, Managing Director and CEO, Schneider Electric India, said the initiative is intended to provide young innovators with a platform to work on real-world challenges and develop solutions related to energy technology.
Niharika Mohan, CHRO, Schneider Electric India, said Yuva Yodha is aimed at encouraging curiosity, creativity and innovation among young Indians while providing opportunities to work on future energy challenges.
The hackathon carries the theme “Let Your Big Idea Shape the Future of Energy Tech” and is positioned around India’s sustainability, digitalisation and energy-transition priorities.
