JK Cement Crosses 31 MTPA Capacity with Commissioning of Buxar Plant in Bihar

National: JK Cement Ltd. on Wednesday announced the commissioning of its new 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) grey cement plant in Buxar, Bihar, taking the company’s total production capacity to 31.26 MTPA and placing it among the top five grey cement manufacturers in India.

The state-of-the-art Buxar facility is spread across 100 acres and marks a significant milestone in JK Cement’s expansion strategy, strengthening its presence in eastern India and enhancing its national footprint.

Commenting on the development, Dr Raghavpat Singhania, Managing Director, JK Cement, said crossing the 31 MTPA mark reflects the company’s long-term growth vision. “The commissioning of the Buxar plant is a strategic step towards expanding our national presence while contributing to Bihar’s infrastructure development and local economic growth,” he said.

Strategically located on the Patna–Buxar highway, the plant will enable faster and more efficient distribution across Bihar and neighbouring regions. While JK Cement entered the Bihar market last year through supplies from its Prayagraj plant, the new facility will now allow deliveries across the state within 24 hours.

Mr Madhavkrishna Singhania, Joint Managing Director & CEO, JK Cement, said the commissioning strengthens the company’s ability to serve the Bihar market locally. “Local manufacturing allows us to be closer to customers, improve service levels, and support sustainable growth in a high-potential market,” he said.

The company has invested around ₹500 crore in the project. Construction began in March 2025, and commercial production commenced on January 29, 2026. The plant is expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment and attract ancillary industries, boosting the local industrial ecosystem.
