Apraava Energy Secures Interstate Transmission Project in Andhra Pradesh

Bengaluru: Apraava Energy has acquired the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Ananthpuram Transmission Limited, to develop an interstate power transmission project in Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh. The project was awarded through the Government of India’s Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process.

The project involves the construction of approximately 250 circuit kilometres (ckm) of 765 kV transmission lines and a 4,500 MVA (3×1500 MVA) 765 kV pooling station, along with the installation of a ±300 MVAR Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM).

According to the company, the project is intended to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s interstate transmission network by enabling the integration and evacuation of around 3 GW of renewable energy from the Ananthapur region.

Commenting on the development, Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Managing Director of Apraava Energy, said Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy potential and clean energy initiatives make it an important part of India’s energy transition. He added that the company views the project as its first investment in the state and aims to contribute to strengthening the country’s transmission infrastructure and renewable energy integration.

The transmission project will be developed under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model. It will provide transmission services for a 35-year concession period after commissioning.

The company said the project has a completion timeline of 36 months from the date of signing the Transmission Service Agreement (TSA). It is also expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases.

Apraava Energy currently operates three transmission assets comprising approximately 1,000 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 3,500 MVA of substation capacity.

With the addition of Ananthpuram Transmission Limited, the company now has four greenfield transmission projects under construction, which together will add around 1,180 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 13,500 MVA of substation capacity.
