Growth Driven by Film Business and B2B Segments
The company attributed the improvement in EBITDA to a 9% increase in sales volumes, improved margins in its BOPP and BOPET film businesses, stronger performance of its USA film business following the reduction of US tariffs, and improved contributions from its speciality chemicals and rigid packaging businesses.
The Cosmo Speciality Chemicals subsidiary recorded 34% year-on-year revenue growth and reported an EBITDA margin of 25% during the quarter.
Meanwhile, Cosmo Plastech, the company’s rigid packaging business, reported 58% year-on-year revenue growth and turned EBIT positive during Q1 FY27. The company said it plans to expand production capacity by 50% over the next two quarters through limited capital expenditure.
Petcare and Consumer Businesses Expand
The company’s Zigly Petcare business recorded 70% year-on-year growth, while Cosmo Consumer, which includes window films, paint protection films and ceramic coatings, also reported significant growth after beginning operations in FY26.
Cosmo First stated that it expects overall revenue to grow by around 20% during FY27, while its four newer businesses are projected to grow by approximately 60%.
Net Debt Remains Stable
The company reported that its net debt remained unchanged at ₹1,166 crore at the end of June 2026, the same level as the previous quarter, despite an increase of ₹85 crore in net working capital due to higher raw material prices following the West Asia conflict.
According to the company, net debt currently stands at 2.3 times EBITDA, with plans to reduce debt significantly over the next two years.
Commenting on the results, Pankaj Poddar, Group CEO, Cosmo First Limited, said all of the company’s B2B businesses are now profitable and that the focus during FY27 will be on improving Return on Capital Employed (ROCE), expanding speciality films, improving asset utilisation, and scaling both B2B and B2C businesses.
