KaarTech Champions Cultural Preservation with Support for Roja Muthiah Research Library’s Mission
Chennai: The Roja Muthiah Research Library (RMRL), a leading institution in the preservation of Tamil heritage, has been at the forefront of efforts to conserve and digitize rare cultural assets for the past three decades. Founded in 1994, RMRL holds over 500,000 culturally significant items, including rare manuscripts, publications, and archival materials, and has successfully digitized more than 2 million pages to ensure their longevity. The institution’s focus extends beyond preservation to making these materials accessible to scholars and the public, not just in India but across the globe.
As Tamil heritage faces modern-day challenges, RMRL continues to innovate with initiatives such as the Tamil Font Studio (TFS), which is creating fonts compatible with modern digital platforms, allowing Tamil texts to be accessed, read, and appreciated by new generations. The library’s long-standing mission has been to ensure that these cultural treasures are preserved and made available for future generations, safeguarding the legacy of Tamil literature and history.
KaarTech, a global leader in digital transformation, is honoured to join this critical journey of cultural preservation. Through its corporate social responsibility initiative, Kaar Arakkattalai, KaarTech has been actively contributing to various causes, including education, heritage preservation, and community development. The partnership with RMRL aligns with Kaar Arakkattalai’ s mission to make a lasting impact on society by supporting endeavours that promote knowledge, culture, and heritage.
In furthering this cause, KaarTech has contributed INR 20 lakhs to support the construction of RMRL’s new institutional building, which will enable the library to continue its preservation and digitization work on an even larger scale. This contribution reflects KaarTech’s belief that heritage preservation is a cornerstone of community development and education, making it a key part of their broader mission through Kaar Arakkattalai.
“At KaarTech, we believe that social responsibility means contributing to the preservation of not just the present, but also the cultural roots that define who we are,” said KaarTech’s leadership. “By supporting RMRL’s work, we are helping to preserve a piece of history that resonates with people around the world.”
Kaar Arakkattalai has been involved in initiatives ranging from advancing education in underserved communities to fostering sustainability. The latest collaboration with RMRL showcases KaarTech’s dedication to safeguarding cultural heritage and promoting literacy through technology and innovation. This partnership is particularly meaningful as it aids RMRL in digitizing and expanding access to Tamil cultural heritage for scholars, students, and enthusiasts worldwide.
