LSC Hosts PRISM 2026 in Chennai to Address Logistics Sector Skill Gaps

Chennai: The Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) hosted PRISM 2026, an industry connect meet in Chennai, bringing together government officials, industry leaders, educational institutions and training organisations to discuss workforce development in India’s logistics sector.

Held under the theme “India’s Logistics Workforce for Global Competitiveness,” the event focused on emerging skill requirements, technological advancements and the need to align training programmes with industry demands.

Discussions covered workforce development, artificial intelligence, automation, global mobility and emerging career opportunities. Participants also explored how Sector Skill Councils could use government schemes, policy incentives and industry partnerships to address skill gaps.

LSC Chairman Cyrus Guzder said the logistics sector was undergoing significant changes driven by technology, automation and digitalisation, requiring a workforce equipped to meet global standards.

A key highlight was India’s achievement at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, where the country won a silver medal in Logistics and Freight Forwarding. The achievement highlighted the potential of Indian talent to compete internationally and the importance of practical training, apprenticeships and industry-aligned curricula.

The event concluded with the PRISM Awards, recognising contributions from individuals, institutions and industry partners towards skills development and employability.

LSC Board Director Padmanabhan, representing the logistics industry, emphasised the need for closer collaboration between employers, government and training institutions to ensure that training meets workplace requirements.

The discussions highlighted the importance of continuous upskilling, clear career pathways and stronger industry participation to prepare India’s logistics workforce for changing domestic and international supply chain requirements.
