Seasonal Changes Can Make Tooth Sensitivity More Noticeable, Says Dentist

Chennai: Seasonal changes and shifts in daily food and drink habits can make tooth sensitivity more noticeable, particularly among people with weakened enamel or exposed dentin, according to Dr. Sonia Datta, Professor in Public Health Dentistry.

Hot beverages, cold foods and frequent changes in temperature may trigger sharp, temporary tooth pain. However, weather changes do not necessarily cause sensitivity but may reveal underlying dental issues.

Worn enamel, plaque build-up and receding gums can expose the inner layers of teeth, making everyday foods and drinks uncomfortable. Tooth sensitivity may indicate a need for improved oral care and professional attention.

Dr. Datta emphasised the importance of maintaining a consistent oral hygiene routine rather than relying on temporary measures when sensitivity occurs.

She also highlighted the role of toothpaste in daily dental care. Dabur Red Toothpaste contains Ayurvedic ingredients such as clove and ginger, traditionally associated with tooth comfort and gum care. The product carries the Indian Dental Association (IDA) Seal of Acceptance.

Regular oral care and attention to early signs of sensitivity can help people identify potential dental problems and seek timely advice from a dental professional.
