Global Project Leaders Discuss AI, Innovation and Sustainability at IPMA Forum 2026 near Chennai
Chennai: Global project management experts, policymakers and industry leaders convened for the IPMA Global Project Profession Forum 2026, inaugurated at Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay, Mahabalipuram. The two-day forum is organised by Project Management Associates (PMA India) in collaboration with the International Project Management Association (IPMA).
Held under the theme “Co-Creating a Global Transformation through Project Management: Embracing AI, Innovation, and Sustainability,” the forum brings together international experts to explore the evolving role of project management in driving economic growth, innovation and sustainable development.
Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for IT & Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu, attended as Chief Guest, emphasising the need for strong execution frameworks in governance and the use of AI and data-driven approaches to improve public service delivery. He highlighted the importance of evidence-based decision-making and project management principles to ensure effective implementation of government initiatives.
Mladen Vukomanovic, President of IPMA, outlined global trends in the profession, stressing that modern project success must focus on long-term social and economic value beyond traditional metrics. He also highlighted the importance of human-centric leadership and ethical decision-making alongside technological advancement.
A. Sivathanu Pillai, President of PMA India and Padma Bhushan awardee, spoke on the role of mission-oriented project management in national development, advocating the integration of AI, IoT and big data to improve efficiency and innovation.
S. Somanath delivered a keynote on the role of space missions in strengthening India’s innovation ecosystem, while Roberto Mori discussed sustainable project strategies in the mining and metals sector.
The forum aims to foster global collaboration, share best practices, and strengthen professional competencies, positioning project management as a key driver of future-ready organisations and sustainable global transformation.
