India’s First-Ever Elevator & Escalator Symposium in Chennai Calls for Unified Safety Codes NationwideNational Industry Quiz Winners Felicitated
Chennai: India’s first-ever Elevator & Escalator Symposium & Quiz 2026 concluded in Chennai, bringing together leading experts and professionals from the vertical transportation industry. The two-day landmark event strongly underscored the urgent need for uniform safety codes, regulatory compliance, and standardised practices across the country.
Organised by ISEEVENTUS Pvt Ltd, the symposium served as a dedicated platform for elevator and escalator professionals to deliberate on emerging technologies, safety innovations, sustainability, and operational best practices.
The event was inaugurated by V. Ramakrishnan, Chief Electrical Inspector to the Government of Tamil Nadu, and attended by prominent industry leaders including representatives from L&T Construction, KONE Elevator India Pvt Ltd, Wittur Group, and REVROY Pvt Ltd.
Addressing the gathering, Ramakrishnan stressed the importance of greater awareness and strict adherence to respective State Lift Acts, noting that consistent implementation of safety regulations is critical to improving public safety in vertical transportation systems.
R. Balakrishnan of L&T Construction highlighted the need to conduct similar symposiums nationwide to promote best manufacturing and engineering practices, stating that strengthening safety and quality standards would significantly contribute to India’s long-term development goals.
TAK Mathews, Principal Consultant, TAK Consulting, and organiser of the symposium, said Tamil Nadu’s strong base of elevator manufacturing companies made Chennai a natural choice for hosting the inaugural event. He emphasised that such knowledge-sharing initiatives are vital to keeping professionals updated on evolving technologies, compliance requirements, and industry trends.
National Industry Quiz Winners Announced
Running parallel to the symposium, the grand finale of the ISEE Elevator Industry Quiz 2026 titled “Who Will Be MAHAGURU?” was held after a two-month competition. Winners were announced and felicitated in the presence of industry leaders and delegates.
- Mahaguru: Akshay Mahadik and Vaibhav Baravkar (Schindler India) – ₹5 lakh
- 1st Runner-Up: V. Sreekanth (Fujitec India Pvt Ltd) – ₹3 lakh
- 2nd Runner-Up: Boopathi and Ramkumar Seeralan (Fujitec India) – ₹1 lakh
All finalists and semi-finalists were awarded ₹10,000 each in recognition of their performance.
The symposium aimed to establish a high-impact knowledge-sharing platform addressing critical industry challenges ranging from safety compliance to innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation. Sessions were structured to enhance technical expertise, operational efficiency, and future readiness within the elevator and escalator ecosystem.
