Casagrand International School Hosts 4th State-Level Children’s Chess Tournament

Chennai: Casagrand International School hosted the 4th edition of the Tamil Nadu State Level Children’s Chess Tournament, drawing more than 350 students from 70 schools across the state.

The tournament, exclusively organised for children aged under 8 to 17, transformed the school campus into a competitive arena of strategy and skill. Conducted in line with international standards, the event featured four categories — U-8, U-10, U-12 and U-17 — with participants competing across six rounds that tested their concentration, endurance and tactical ability.

At the end of the closely contested matches, the top 15 players in each category were awarded trophies. The winners in each category were also presented with chess clocks in recognition of their performance.

Speaking on the occasion, Dwarakesh P, Chief Operating Officer of Casagrand International School, said chess plays a vital role in nurturing strategic thinking, patience and resilience among students. He noted that Tamil Nadu continues to be a strong contributor to Indian chess and added that hosting the annual championship reflects the school’s commitment to holistic development beyond academics.

The event highlighted the growing popularity of scholastic chess in the state and provided young players a platform to compete at a recognised state-level tournament.
