En Nenju Niraya Pugunthaar Book on Kanchi Mahaswami’s Padayatra Released

Chennai: A new book documenting the historic padayatra of Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Swamigal was released in Chennai on Thursday.

Titled “En Nenju Niraya Pugunthaar: Sri Kanchi Mahaperiyavaalum Ekambaramaagiya Naanum (Part 2)”, the book has been authored by Sri Ekambaram, a longtime associate and devotee of the Kanchi Mahaswami. The event was organised by Sri Siva Vishnu Charitable Trust at Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Mahaswami Hall, Vani Mahal, T. Nagar.

The book chronicles the six-year spiritual walking pilgrimage undertaken by the Kanchi Mahaswami between 1978 and 1984. During the journey, the seer walked nearly 3,860 km from Kanchipuram to Satara at the age of 84.

The publication presents firsthand accounts of the pilgrimage, including interactions with devotees, events during the journey, and the Mahaswami’s visits to villages and towns across the route. It also features a collection of rare photographs from the padayatra, many of which are being published for the first time.

The organisers said the book serves as a historical and spiritual record of the Mahaswami’s life and teachings.

The release function received the blessings of Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal.

Among those present were Dr. Mani Dravid Shastri, Professor at Chennai Sanskrit College; K. Jayaramakrishnan, industry expert; advocate K. Chandrasekaran; N. Narayanan, State President of Tamil Nadu Brahmin Association; and P. Suresh, Managing Director of Arun Excello Group.
