SEBI, NSE Promote Investor Awareness at Tamil Nadu International Kite Festival 2026

Mamallapuram: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and other securities market participants conducted an investor awareness initiative at the 5th Tamil Nadu International Kite Festival 2026 in Mamallapuram.

The festival was held from August 14 to 16, 2026, with an investor awareness stall set up as part of efforts to promote financial literacy, investor education and investor protection.

On the inaugural day, the SEBI-NSE Investor Awareness Stall, organised in collaboration with other securities market participants, was inaugurated by S. Rajesh Kumar, Minister for Tourism, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The inauguration was attended by M. K. Srikanth, General Manager, SEBI, and Joginder Singh, Vice President, NSE, along with representatives of other securities market participants.

Investor Awareness Through Kite Flying

The initiative used the theme of kite flying to explain basic principles of informed investing. Kite flying involves balance, direction, vigilance and control, which were used as parallels for the qualities required for responsible participation in the securities market.

Visitors to the stall were introduced to concepts related to investor protection, financial literacy and safe participation in the securities market through interactive activities and simplified educational materials.

The initiative was aimed at a broad audience, including young adults, families and first-time investors.

Key Investor Awareness Messages

The awareness programme covered several areas, including:

  • Investor rights and responsibilities
  • Making informed investment decisions
  • Identifying and avoiding investment frauds and scams
  • Safe and responsible participation in the securities market
  • Basics of financial planning and investing
  • Awareness of SEBI-verified apps
  • Investor grievance redressal mechanisms

The organisers used the public festival as a platform to make financial awareness messages accessible to visitors from different parts of India.

Linking Financial Awareness With Everyday Activities

The kite festival was also used to draw a comparison between kite flying and investing. According to the initiative, maintaining balance, direction and control while flying a kite can be related to the need for knowledge, discipline, patience and informed decision-making when navigating the securities market.

The initiative brought together the Government of Tamil Nadu, SEBI, NSE and other securities market participants to take investor education and protection messages to a wider audience.

NSE said it will continue investor awareness initiatives across different platforms and formats, with a focus on financial literacy, responsible participation in the securities market, fraud awareness and investor protection.
