UNIQLO Distributes 4,000 HEATTECH Thermal Garments in Ladakh

Ladakh: Japanese apparel retailer UNIQLO has partnered with the 17000 ft Foundation to distribute 4,000 HEATTECH thermal garments to students and community members in remote areas of Ladakh, including students at Government High School in Salampora, Drass.

The initiative is part of UNIQLO’s global The Heart of LifeWear programme, aimed at supporting communities facing extreme winter conditions. Temperatures in Drass can fall well below freezing during winter.

Alongside the distribution, UNIQLO representatives explained how HEATTECH clothing is designed to help retain warmth in cold weather.

The programme was attended by Drass Deputy Commissioner Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS), LAHDC Councillor Abdul Samad, DIET Kargil Principal Khurshida Bano, and representatives of the 17000 ft Foundation and local education officials.

Kenji Inoue, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of UNIQLO India, said the initiative was intended to support students and local communities during the colder months.

Nidhi Rastogi, Director of Marketing and CSR at UNIQLO India, said Drass was selected because of its extreme weather conditions and the need to provide warmth to students and residents during winter.
