An Exclusive Two-Week Residency With Masterchef Australia’s Loki Madireddi at Park Hyatt Chennai
Park Hyatt, Chennai hosted MasterChef Loki Madireddi’s two–week residency earlier this month. This exclusive residency at Park Hyatt Chennai was launched with a discussion on Australia and India: Friendship Through Food in the presence of Ms. Sarah Kirlew (Australian Consul General for South India), Mr. Sascha Lenz (General Manager, Park Hyatt Chennai), Mr. Loki Madireddi (Chef and Co-Founder Trust the Loki Culinary Fellowship), Mr. Balaji Natarajan (Executive Chef, Park Hyatt Chennai) and Mrs. Deepika Nagasamy (Director Dindigul Thalappakatti Hotels Pvt Ltd). It also featured an exciting food tasting conducted by Chef Loki.
Chef Loki is a past contestant of MasterChef Australia and is known not just for his culinary repertoire but also for his ability to entertain and curate memorable dining experiences.
Guests have experienced three degustation dinners at The Flying Elephant that were designed as train journeys through India. The dinners featured dishes inspired from different stations he visited during his childhood with a uniquely Australian twist.
Aussie Backyard BBQ brunches at The Flying Elephant were curated and featured modern Australian BBQ with an Asian influence along with regular brunch items.
Journey along the Silk Route was a special menu showcasing street food from Asia with a focus on spices at Mr. Ong (the city’s only authentic Singaporean restaurant). There was also a Toddy shop featuring short eats with influences of Asia and Australia such as Korean Fried Cauliflower and Hogenakkal fish.
Each event was unique and Chef Loki was there to entertain his hometown of Chennai. He also brought along with him some native Australian ingredients such as Kakadu plum, Davidson plum, Quandong, and lava salts.
Speaking about the collaboration Mr. Sascha Lenz, General Manager, Park Hyatt Chennai said, “We were very excited to have Chef Loki back at Park Hyatt Chennai for another showcase of his culinary offerings. This time it was a two-week residency filled with multiple events at our restaurants.
Our guests have experienced exclusive dinners, brunches, and bar eats prepared in his typical style using Australian, Indian and Asian flavors and ingredients. I can confidently say that this was an incredible opportunity for food lovers.”
Chef Loki added, “This exclusive residency at Park Hyatt Chennai was my ode to the city combining bold Indian flavors from my childhood with native Australian ingredients that I have grown to cherish. It’s my true homecoming!” During the residency, Chef Loki Madireddi worked together with Executive Chef Balaji Natarajan and his team to curate the dishes.
