John Cockerill Partners with IIT Bombay to Drive Innovation in Steel Decarbonization and Green Hydrogen

John Cockerill Group, a leading technology solutions provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) to drive innovation in steel decarbonization technology, green hydrogen value chain, and defense product development.

Key Objectives:

  • Joint research initiatives in steel decarbonisation technologies, green hydrogen value chain, and defense products development
  • Development of new solutions to address the evolving needs of the global steel sector, focusing on sustainability and reducing carbon emissions
  • Creation of Centres of Excellence dedicated to steel technology, defense products, and green hydrogen value chain

Vivek Bhide, Regional President, India, and Group Transformation Officer of John Cockerill, stated, “This MoU represents a pivotal step in our journey to co-create innovative solutions that address pressing challenges faced by the steel, energy, and defense sectors.”

Prof. Sachin Patwardhan, Dean (R&D), IIT Bombay, added, “This collaboration aligns with our vision of driving translational research that contributes to technological advancements and industrial innovation.”

The partnership aims to unlock new opportunities for steel decarbonization, national security, and clean energy, contributing to India’s growth in infrastructure, national security, and sustainability.
