Rotary District 3234 Honours Music Legends at FMLR Grand Finale Event in Chennai
Chennai: Rotary International District 3234’s Fellowship of Music Loving Rotarians (FMLR) organized a special musical tribute event titled “An Evening to Honour Musical Legends” at the Alumni Club, R.A. Puram, Chennai, marking the grand finale of the district’s “Unite for Good” Year 2025-26 celebrations.
The event brought together Rotarians, music enthusiasts and artists for an evening dedicated to recognizing the contributions of veteran musicians and celebrating India’s rich musical heritage.
A key highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran recordist and composer Sri HMV Raghu in recognition of his longstanding contribution to the music industry.
The event also featured the presentation of Vocational Excellence Awards to five accomplished musicians for their contributions to their respective fields:
- Mr. S. Sadanandam – Guitarist
- Mr. M. K. Radha Vijayan – Guitarist and Composer
- Mr. Y. P. Prasad – Tabla Artist
- Mr. R. A. Amalraj – Violin Artist
- Mrs. Mary Lydia – Veena Artist
As part of the programme, members of FMLR from Rotary District 3234 presented a live retro music concert featuring evergreen songs from different eras. The performances highlighted popular melodies that have remained significant in Indian music over the decades.
The event was hosted jointly by the Rotary Club of Chennai Spotlight and the Rotary Club of Chennai Mambalam.
Organizers said the programme was aimed at recognizing the achievements of senior musicians while providing a platform to celebrate their contributions to the cultural and musical landscape.
The evening concluded with award presentations, musical performances and interactions among Rotarians, artists and guests attending the event.
