Chennai Hospital Performs Life-Saving TAVR Procedure on 73-Year-Old Heart Patient
Chennai: In a significant medical milestone, a 73-year-old patient with severe aortic valve stenosis and multiple comorbidities has been given a new lease of life after undergoing a successful Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure at Kauvery Hospital.
The patient, who had previously suffered a cardiac arrest, was experiencing persistent leg swelling, extreme fatigue, and breathlessness. His deteriorating health, compounded by kidney failure, made him unfit for traditional open-heart surgery.
However, the TAVR procedure, performed by Dr. Rajaram Anantharaman, Senior Consultant Cardiologist, offered a viable solution. The patient was discharged just three days after the procedure and has shown significant improvement in both heart and kidney functions within two months.
Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Kauvery Group of Hospitals, stated, “The successful treatment of this patient is a testament to our clinical expertise and commitment to delivering world-class healthcare.”
The TAVR procedure has revolutionized the treatment of structural heart diseases, offering a less invasive and more effective solution for patients with severe aortic stenosis.
