NSDC and Rapido Partner to Boost Gig Economy Opportunities
Mumbai: The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Rapido, a leading bike taxi aggregator, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate skill development for gig workers. The partnership aims to bridge the gap between skilling and employability, providing individuals with part-time and full-time job opportunities.
The partnership combines NSDC’s expertise in skilling and training with Rapido’s bike taxi fleet and network. NSDC will facilitate the identification and mobilization of candidates, while Rapido will establish a support system for driver partners. The collaboration will provide sustainable earning opportunities, access to vehicles, skill development programs, and stable income prospects.
Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC and Managing Director of NSDC International, stated: “This collaboration is a significant step towards strengthening the gig economy.” Pavan Guntupalli, Co-Founder of Rapido, remarked: “We are thrilled to partner with NSDC in creating earning opportunities for over half a million driver partners every month.”
The partnership will provide individuals with access to standardized training curricula, certification, and job linkages. Rapido’s digital platform will enable candidates to access part-time and full-time earning opportunities, with flexible working hours catering to a diverse workforce across India.
The partnership aims to foster inclusive growth, enhance employability, and ensure that every individual has the skills and support to participate in India’s evolving mobility sector and broader economy. Rapido has already facilitated income generation for over five million people, with nearly two million captains earning through its platform every month.
