Mumbai: Uber has announced a significant expansion of its Intercity product, increasing its footprint by 50% to over 3,000 routes across India. This growth mirrors the country’s highway infrastructure development, which has boosted long-distance road travel between cities.
Introducing Uber Intercity Motorhomes
To promote outstation travel, Uber has launched a limited-period product featuring custom-designed Motorhomes. These Motorhomes offer a premium, comfort-first experience and are equipped with amenities like:
- Entertainment: Television
- Convenience: Lavatory, microwave, and mini-refrigerator
- Assistance: Driver and helper
Bookings for Uber Intercity Motorhomes will open on August 4, and the service will be available from August 7 to September 6. Each Motorhome can seat 4-5 riders comfortably and offers features like:
- Advance Bookings: Through Reserve
- Real-time Tracking: Live location tracking
- Multiple Stops: Ability to add stops along the way
- 24×7 Support: Live support helpline

The top 5 popular routes for Intercity rides over the last 12 months include:
- Mumbai-Pune

Weekends, especially Fridays, are the most popular days for intercity travel, with riders preferring early morning or lean traffic hours (2 PM-3 PM). Rider interest surges during festive periods like Diwali, Holi, Eid, and the summer wedding season.
