Flipkart Expands EV Fleet to 20,000, Launches Long-Haul Pilot and Ecosystem Initiatives

Chennai: Flipkart, India’s leading e-commerce marketplace, has scaled its electric vehicle (EV) delivery fleet to over 20,000 vehicles, doubling its deployment from the previous year. The milestone marks a major step toward Flipkart’s goal of achieving a 100% electric last-mile fleet by 2030, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable logistics and the EV100 initiative led by The Climate Group.

Currently, over 70% of grocery deliveries on the platform are fulfilled via EVs, with fleet penetration expanding across metro and Tier-2+ cities including Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Lucknow.

“We are incredibly proud of our 20,000-EV strong last-mile fleet,” said Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President, Flipkart Group. “Our new electric truck pilot for long-haul routes is the next frontier in building a truly sustainable supply chain.”

Flipkart has launched a long-haul electric truck pilot on the Delhi–Jaipur corridor in partnership with Golden Aero Logistics, using a retrofitted Kalyani electric truck to assess EV viability in medium-distance freight logistics.

To accelerate adoption, Flipkart rolled out a series of ecosystem initiatives:

  • Nationwide EV Roadshows with OEM partners Revolt and Bajaj
  • OEM x Last Mile Agencies Connects in Delhi and Mumbai
  • Wishmaster Digital Campaign to educate delivery partners on EV operations and sustainability

“True progress lies in building an ecosystem that enables lasting adoption,” said Nishant Gupta, Head of Sustainability. “We’re focused on removing real barriers and driving inclusive, long-term change.”

A recent survey of over 5,400 Flipkart delivery partners revealed growing interest in EVs, with nearly half expressing willingness to transition, though access to affordable credit remains a challenge.

Flipkart’s continued investment in clean mobility reflects its broader strategy to integrate sustainability across operations and support India’s transition to a greener supply chain.
