JK Physio & Rehab Clinics Launches AI-Based Robotic Rehabilitation Centre in Chennai
Chennai: JK Physio & Rehab Clinics has launched an advanced AI-based robotic rehabilitation centre in Chennai, introducing robotic and technology-assisted rehabilitation services for neuro and orthopaedic conditions.
The centre features an AI-based robotic rehabilitation system, robotic gait training, robotic-assisted exoskeletal rehabilitation, EMG-assisted Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES), EMG biofeedback rehabilitation and Virtual Reality (VR)-assisted therapy. The services are intended for both adult and paediatric patients.
The new robotic rehabilitation device was inaugurated by Dr. J. Kalpana (PT), MPT Neurology, PhD, Managing Director, JK Physio & Rehab Clinics. According to the clinic, the device is the first of its kind in India.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Kalpana said the clinic’s approach is focused on combining clinical expertise with technology and evidence-based rehabilitation. She said the new centre is aimed at helping patients improve mobility, independence and confidence, while making advanced rehabilitation available to those who require it.
Dr. V. Jagadeesan (PT), MPT (Orthopaedics), PhD, Chairman and CEO, JK Physio & Rehab Clinics, spoke about the clinic’s journey since its establishment in 2007 and its focus on rehabilitation and physiotherapy practices followed internationally.
Dr. Jagadeesan also highlighted the role of EMG-assisted FES technology in the treatment of neurological conditions. According to him, the technology can support patients in their efforts to regain independence and improve their quality of life.
Dr. P. Senthil Selvam, HOD, Vels School of Physiotherapy, and Dr. Balaji Bhashyam, Spine Surgeon, MGM Healthcare, attended the event as guests of honour.
Dr. Bhashyam appreciated the initiative and said that the availability of advanced rehabilitation technology could contribute to rehabilitation care.
Dr. Arjun Selvam and Dr. Ayyappan Balaji of JK Physio & Rehab Clinics were also present at the event.
The EMG-assisted FES system is currently available at JK Physio & Rehab Clinics’ facility in Anna Nagar, Chennai. The clinic said its rehabilitation services also include EMG biofeedback rehabilitation, balance training and gait training systems.
