Yamaha Hosts Hybrid Mileage Challenge in Chennai to Showcase Fuel Efficiency

Chennai: India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. organized its Hybrid Mileage Challenge in Chennai to demonstrate the fuel efficiency benefits of its hybrid technology and create awareness among customers about its real-world advantages.

The event, held on June 21 in association with Yamaha’s authorized dealerships Samukh Bikes, Vardhaman Motors, and Namokkar Byke Zone, witnessed enthusiastic participation from customers and their families. Participants experienced Yamaha’s FZ-S Fi Hybrid motorcycle along with the company’s 125cc hybrid scooters, RayZR and Fascino.

During the event, Yamaha highlighted its Smart Motor Generator (SMG) and Stop & Start System (SSS), technologies designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. The systems enable quieter engine starts, provide electric-assisted acceleration, and automatically switch off the engine during idling to conserve fuel, thereby enhancing both performance and riding comfort.

The challenge featured a specially curated route of approximately 50 kilometres for motorcycles and 30 kilometres for scooters, covering city roads, urban traffic, and open stretches. This allowed participants to assess various aspects of vehicle performance, including handling, suspension, braking, acceleration, and fuel efficiency under different riding conditions.

To ensure accurate mileage calculations, all participating vehicles were refuelled to a standard level before and after the ride, and fuel consumption was carefully monitored and recorded.

In addition to the ride experience, Yamaha experts interacted with participants and shared practical tips on riding techniques and vehicle maintenance practices that can help maximize fuel efficiency. All participants received exclusive souvenirs, complimentary vehicle wash services, and a comprehensive 10-point vehicle inspection to ensure optimum performance and safety.

The top performers in the mileage challenge were honoured with trophies and certificates in recognition of their achievements.
