Apraava Energy Brings Solar Power to Northeast India, Impacting 21,000 Lives
Chennai: Apraava Energy, in partnership with SELCO Foundation, has launched solar-powered community, health, and education facilities in Assam and Nagaland, benefiting over 21,000 people. The initiative is expected to save 57 tonnes of CO₂ annually—equivalent to planting 2,580 trees.
In Assam’s Chirang district, a 27.5 kW solar facility supports women artisans, youth programs, clinics, and legal aid. Over 700 children across 17 forest-based learning centres now have access to clean water and sanitation.
In Nagaland’s Kohima district, 22.32 kW installations power schools and health centres, supporting 1,000+ students and upgrading five rural schools with digital tools. Solar street lighting has also improved safety.
Apraava’s broader CSR efforts include the Agri-SHE programme for 3,000 women entrepreneurs, a mid-day meal kitchen serving 11,000 children daily, and support for 15 grassroots changemakers. The company also operates transmission assets and smart metering projects across the region.
