Reticon 2026 Brings Global Retina Experts to Chennai, Showcases Latest Advances in Eye Care
Chennai: Dr Agarwals Retina Foundation hosted the 16th edition of its flagship retina conference, Reticon 2026, in Chennai, bringing together over 1,000 participants from across India and abroad.
The one-day scientific conference convened vitreoretinal specialists, general ophthalmologists, clinicians, researchers, and postgraduate students, focusing on the latest advancements in the diagnosis and management of vitreoretinal disorders. The event served as a platform for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and discussions on emerging technologies in retina care.
Reticon 2026 was inaugurated by C Sridhar, Vice Chancellor of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research, in the presence of Amar Agarwal, Chairman; Ashvin Agarwal, Chief Clinical Officer; and Manoj Khatri, Director, Vitreo-Retinal Services at Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital.
The conference featured around 50 national and international experts who delivered sessions covering both medical and surgical retina. Key discussions highlighted advancements in treatments for retinal vascular diseases, evolving surgical techniques, and innovations shaping modern retina care.
Hands-on learning was a key highlight, with dedicated wet lab sessions offering training in advanced vitreoretinal procedures, including Glued IOL, SFT, and intravitreal injections. Panel discussions, debates, and interactive sessions enabled participants to gain practical insights into clinical applications and emerging best practices.
Speaking at the event, Amar Agarwal said Reticon has evolved into a leading platform for retina specialists, educators, and researchers worldwide. He noted that the conference aims to foster innovation, encourage global collaboration, and equip clinicians with the latest knowledge to improve patient outcomes.
Manoj Khatri, Organising Secretary of Reticon 2026, emphasised the growing importance of timely diagnosis and advanced treatment in managing retinal diseases, which remain a major cause of vision loss. He added that the conference is designed to disseminate cutting-edge knowledge and strengthen clinical expertise among ophthalmologists.
With a strong scientific programme and global participation, Reticon 2026 reinforced its role as a key forum for advancing retina care and enhancing clinical practices in India and beyond.
