NTT DATA Partners with Cursor to Advance AI-Powered Enterprise Software Modernization

NTT DATA has announced a strategic partnership with AI coding platform Cursor to strengthen its software engineering and delivery capabilities through artificial intelligence and enterprise-grade governance.

Under the collaboration, NTT DATA will deploy Cursor’s AI agents across its engineering and delivery operations to support enterprise software design, development and modernization while maintaining governance, privacy and operational controls.

The initiative is part of NTT DATA’s broader strategy to expand its AI-driven engineering capabilities and accelerate the modernization of enterprise applications and legacy systems.

Focus on AI-Driven Software Engineering

According to the company, Cursor’s AI coding platform enables developers to write, review, refactor and modernize software using AI agents that understand the broader codebase. The platform supports multiple AI models and integrates directly into developers’ working environments.

By incorporating AI into its engineering workflow, NTT DATA aims to improve software development consistency, accelerate cloud migration projects and support AI transformation initiatives for enterprise customers.

The collaboration also seeks to align software modernization efforts with enterprise-wide AI governance strategies through built-in privacy controls, centralized administration, Single Sign-On (SSO), audit-ready policy enforcement and granular AI agent controls.

Enterprise Governance and Modernization

The partnership focuses on enabling organizations to modernize legacy applications while maintaining compliance and operational oversight.

According to NTT DATA, integrating AI agents into the engineering process is expected to improve delivery speed, increase consistency across global engineering teams and support secure AI adoption within enterprise environments.

Initial Enterprise Deployment

NTT DATA has begun deploying Cursor Enterprise across selected engineering teams and plans to expand the rollout globally as adoption increases.

The company also intends to establish a Cursor Center of Excellence to support implementation across its global practices and industry verticals.

Commenting on the partnership, Abhijit Dubey, CEO and Chief AI Officer of NTT DATA, Inc., said enterprise modernization now extends beyond cloud migration and increasingly involves rethinking how software is developed and managed using AI technologies.

Jordan Topoleski, Chief Operating Officer of Cursor, said the collaboration demonstrates how AI can be integrated into large-scale software engineering while maintaining enterprise governance and supporting modernization initiatives.

The partnership reflects the growing adoption of AI-powered development platforms as enterprises seek to modernize legacy systems, improve engineering productivity and implement AI within secure governance frameworks.
