Whitefield Art Collective’s 8th Edition Inaugurated with ‘Future is Now’ Theme

Bengaluru: The eighth edition of the Whitefield Art Collective was inaugurated at VR Bengaluru, Whitefield, with the theme ‘Future is Now’. The month-long festival features art installations, sculptures, paintings, film, puppetry, photography, and workshops.

Alison Barrett MBE, Director India, British Council, inaugurated the festival, which showcases artistic voices from across the world. The event commenced with the unveiling of the ‘Kala Car’, an artistic creation by Kalki Subramaniam, and a traditional lamp lighting ceremony.

The festival features collaborations with global organizations such as UNESCO, British Council, and the New York-based Arts for the Future Festival. It also includes esteemed institutions like Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore University, and Bangalore School of Design.

“The Whitefield Art Collective has evolved into a dynamic platform that brings together artistic voices from across the world,” said Sumi Gupta, curator of the Whitefield Art Collective. “This edition is about fostering new ideas and ensuring that art remains an integral part of our collective experience.”

The festival features a range of exhibitions, including ‘A Braided River: The Universe of Indian Women in Science’ and ‘Climate Science Literacy’. It also showcases a special collaboration with the Chennai Photo Biennale, featuring works by differently abled individuals and neurodivergent artists.

The Whitefield Art Collective is supported by Siddharth Yog, Founder of Virtuous Retail and Chief Patron of Yuj Foundation. The festival celebrates Bengaluru’s artistic diversity and brings together students, emerging talents, and renowned artists alongside global and local institutions.
