TNEPIC 2026 Concludes in Chennai with Focus on Advanced Heart Rhythm Care

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Cardiac Electrophysiology Conference (TNEPIC) 2026 concluded in Chennai after two days of scientific sessions, hands-on training and discussions on advances in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.

The conference brought together more than 300 healthcare professionals from across India, as well as participants from Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada. Leading cardiac electrophysiologists, international faculty, cardiologists and students took part in the programme.

Held under the theme “The World of Heart Rhythm Disorders – Where Electrophysiology Meets Innovation,” the conference covered a range of topics, including supraventricular tachycardias, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardias, non-ischaemic cardiomyopathies, cardiac devices, syncope and sudden cardiac death.

Sessions also examined emerging electrophysiology technologies such as pulsed-field ablation and leadless pacemakers.

Conference Inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker and Health Minister

The conference was inaugurated by J. C. D. Prabhakar, Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, and Dr K. G. Arunraj, Minister of State for Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education.

The inaugural ceremony included a tribute to the late Dr Ulhas Pandurangi and the presentation of Lifetime Achievement and Distinguished Teacher recognitions.

Dr T. R. Muralidharan received the “The Heart of Gold” award, while Dr C. Narasimhan was presented with the “The Maestro of Medicine” honour.

Focus on Heart Rhythm Disorders and Newer Technologies

TNEPIC 2026 was organised under the auspices of the Cardiological Society of India, Chennai, and endorsed by the Indian Heart Rhythm Society.

Dr K. Jaishankar served as the Organising Chairman, while Dr P. V. Sanjai chaired the Scientific Committee.

Speaking about the conference, Organising Secretary Dr Deep Chandh Raja S said the programme focused on increasing awareness of advanced treatment options for heart rhythm conditions such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia.

He said the conference also highlighted newer technologies, including pulsed-field ablation and leadless pacemakers, while providing students with opportunities to interact with specialists and participate in hands-on simulator-based learning.

Scientific Sessions and Hands-on Training

The two-day programme combined scientific sessions with case-based learning, debates and hands-on training.

The discussions focused on the evolving role of cardiac electrophysiology in specialised heart rhythm care and examined how newer technologies could be incorporated into clinical practice.

The conference also addressed the importance of advanced treatment approaches for patients experiencing symptoms such as palpitations, giddiness and heart failure, as well as for patients requiring pacemaker implantation.

TNEPIC 2026 concluded with discussions on developments in cardiac electrophysiology and the practical application of newer technologies in heart rhythm management.
