SIMS Hospital Chennai Launches Aesthetic Institute with Multidisciplinary Care

Chennai: SIMS Hospital, Chennai, has inaugurated the SIMS Aesthetic Institute (SAI), a dedicated centre for aesthetic surgery and aesthetic medicine that brings together multiple specialties under one roof.

The institute will provide surgical and non-surgical aesthetic services, with treatment plans based on individual assessments and clinical requirements.

Four Specialties Brought Together

The SIMS Aesthetic Institute will follow a multidisciplinary model involving four areas of expertise:

  • Plastic surgery
  • Dermatology
  • Cosmetic obstetrics and gynaecology
  • Maxillofacial and dental surgery

The services will cover a range of aesthetic procedures involving the face, body, breast, skin, hair, cosmetic gynaecology, and maxillofacial and dental aesthetics.

Focus on Individualised Treatment

T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder-Chancellor, SRM Group, said the approach to aesthetic medicine is increasingly considering appearance, proportion, function and overall well-being together.

He said the institute was established with the aim of bringing different specialties together based on individual patient requirements, rather than addressing separate aesthetic concerns in isolation. He also emphasised the importance of maintaining natural proportions, function and patient safety.

Dr. Ravi Pachamuthu, Chairman, SRM Group and Chairman, SIMS Hospitals, said the institute would follow an integrated approach in which a patient’s aesthetic goals are assessed before determining the appropriate specialist and treatment pathway.

He said the model brings together expertise from dermatology, plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery and cosmetic gynaecology, depending on the patient’s needs.

Treatment Based on Individual Assessment

Dr. Raju Sivasamy, Vice President, SIMS Hospital, said aesthetic preferences can vary based on an individual’s anatomy, expectations, cultural influences and personal preferences.

He said treatment would be determined following an individual assessment rather than through a standardised approach, with the focus on identifying suitable procedures and the appropriate specialist for each patient.

The SIMS Aesthetic Institute will therefore provide both surgical and non-surgical aesthetic services through its multidisciplinary framework, covering facial aesthetics, body contouring, breast aesthetics, skin and hair treatments, cosmetic gynaecological procedures, and maxillofacial and dental aesthetic procedures.
