IIHMR University Hosts International Health Leadership Programme for Professionals from Nine Countries

Mumbai: IIHMR University has commenced the International Training Program on Transformational Leadership for Health System Strengthening (TLHSS) under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Scheme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

The two-week programme is being conducted from June 29 to July 10, 2026, and has brought together 19 healthcare professionals from nine countries—Belarus, Bhutan, Fiji, Kenya, Nepal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan and Tanzania.

The initiative aims to strengthen leadership capabilities in healthcare while promoting international collaboration and knowledge sharing among health professionals.

The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. P. R. Sodani, President of IIHMR University. Speaking at the event, he said healthcare challenges increasingly extend beyond national borders, making international cooperation and leadership essential. He added that the programme provides an opportunity for participants to learn from India’s healthcare management practices while exchanging experiences from their respective countries.

Training Focus Areas

During the programme, participants will receive multidisciplinary training across several areas related to healthcare management and health systems, including:

  • Logistics and supply chain management
  • Pharmaceutical business environment
  • Healthcare analytics
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)

  • Data visualisation
  • R for Analytics
  • Development studies
  • Indian and global economy

The programme is coordinated by Kirti Agarwal, Assistant Professor and ITEC Coordinator at IIHMR University.

According to the university, the initiative is intended to strengthen international cooperation, facilitate the exchange of best practices and support the development of future-ready healthcare systems through collaboration among professionals from different countries.
